Wait For Mira Lin

This blog was created to help keep me sane while I await the adoption of my daughter, Mira Lin. I also hope family and friends will come check the progress of our family!

Mira Update

I am sorry I have taken so long to update the pics. My digital camera and docking station are on the way back to Best Buy to be exchanged, thank God. I think about posting all the time but there seems to be a shortage of hours in a day. I wonder how that happened. Onto the news of Mira.

Mira received her US certificate of citizenship about 3 weeks ago along with a letter from President Bush telling her to be a good little citizen. James couldn't get in the car fast enough to get to the Social Security office. Mira is now the proud owner of a social security card. I know that may seem trivial to some but it is a huge deal to us just to see her little name on the card, "Mira Lin Fogle."

Mira went from standing on her own to walking across the room in what seemed like minutes but was actually several weeks. She took her first step to me about a month ago. Of course, I was holding Zwieback toast in my mouth to persuade her to come to me, but who cares? You should have seen the look on her face when she did it though. She grinned like a Cheshire cat! Then she would take a couple of steps and plop down on her padded butt, then look at us to make sure we saw what she did. Again, she grinned like a Cheshire cat! Fast forward to now and she is walking across whole rooms before she plops down and grins. Most of the time she still looks like a drunken sailor but who cares - it is darn cute! She loves to walk. It seems sometimes that she has no purpose to where she is walking, she is just ecstatic to be able to walk. Thank you baby gate!

Let's talk about Thanksgiving briefly. I don't think Mira will ever eat baby food again. She has eaten turkey, dressing, rice and gravy, green beans, sweet potato souffle, pumpkin pie, sugar cookies, and who knows what else. She actually screamed at me when I didn't feed her fast enough. I can just see me shoving Gerber turkey and rice in her face and her throwing it at me laughing. I can't say as I blame her though.

As you can see, our lives have changed drastically in 2 1/2 months and so has Mira's. I think we all had many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Go Heels! This is cousin Rachel holding Mira for her pose. Carolina may not have the best basketball season this year but they definitely have the cutest new cheerleader! Posted by Picasa

You can't see the little ladybut tentacles because her head won't hold them up but they are so cute!! Happy Halloween Mira! Posted by Picasa

Can you tell how much Mira loved her Halloween outfit? Not too much, thank you! I don't know why I did this to my child. Yes, she made a very cute ladybug, for a whole 30 minutes. She was hot, tired, and ready for bed. I was a selfish new mother who wanted to dress her up for Halloween not for her, but for me. I will never do that to my baby again! Life lesson learned, I'd say. But she is cute, right? Posted by Picasa

Mira has made good use out of cousin Brocks walker. Our social worker said it wouldn't be good for her to be in a walker because she needed to build her back muscles so she could learn to walk. Well, if she gets any stronger, I am going to enter her into a tough man contest! Posted by Picasa

Can you tell my girl needs a nap? Sleepy eyes, thumb in the mouth, not much more to say! Posted by Picasa

My cat, aptly named "Psycho" lets Mira yank, pull, bite, grab whole tufts of hair, and squeal in his face, and he just sits there. What is he thinking????????? Posted by Picasa

"The dog sleeps here, so why oh why can't I?" Posted by Picasa

The back view is even cuter than the front! I know I am slightly prejudiced but isn't that the cutest sight you have ever seen? Thought so! Posted by Picasa

Oh my goodness, is that not the cutest Halloween outfit of all time? Once I got this outfit on her, I wanted it to be Halloween all the time. The bows and the balls and the bib were too cute for words. She was much better wearing it than looking at it because she tried to eat the little balls off at the bottom! Posted by Picasa

"What? I swear it wasn't me that threw the coaster on the floor Mommy. And I swear I won't touch those cords to the baby monitor and the lamp. Don't you trust me Daddy?" Posted by Picasa

Mira discovered my dad's chair massager in this picture. I am quite sure she thought it was a TV remote since that is one of her favorite toys. I guess she couldn't believe I actually let her play with this one but I don't think she realized it was attached! Posted by Picasa

Mira says, "Look at the pretty ball...I wonder how it tastes?!" Posted by Picasa

I can't believe I actually got a picture of Mira sitting still. I think my mom was distracting her. The only time she sits in one place for any length of time is if she is sleepy or pooping. I wonder which one this was... Posted by Picasa

This is Mira and Papaw. I just bought Mira this hat and it was barely cold enough to wear it but she looked so darn cute that I didn't really have a choice, did I? Look at those lips!!!! Posted by Picasa
